Clefts

Cleft lip with or without cleft palate and isolated cleft palate, collectively termed “oral clefts”, are the second most common birth defects among newborns. It is estimated that approximately 1 out of every 1,000 newborns has an oral cleft, a figure that is higher in certain ethnic groups.

We collaborate with groups all over the world, and provide our expertise in the following areas:

Study design and protocol

  • Development of questionnaires and selection of best biological specimens to obtain
  • Data management, transfer of biological samples
  • Statistical analyses (classical biostatistics and statistical genetics)
  • Writing manuscripts, presentations at national and international meetings
