Research Interests

Dr. Wyszynski's research interests focus on in implementing analytic methods, such as analysis of familial correlations, segregation analysis, and linkage analysis, to elucidate the etiology of familial clustering of quantitative and qualitative traits. Specific areas of interest include birth defects (especially nonsyndromic cleft lip with/without cleft palate and neural tube defects), lipid disorders (such as the metabolic syndrome), and sickle cell disease. Dr. Wyszynski is the senior epidemiologist of the AntiEpileptic Drug (AED) Pregnancy Registry at the Massachusetts General Hospital and of the Boston University School of Medicine's Center of Excellence in Sickle Cell Disease and New England Centenarian Study. He is also an epidemiologist for the CDC-sponsored National Birth Defects Prevention Study and the NIA-sponsored Long Life Family Study.
