Genotyping

The Core currently processes samples primarily on the ABI Prism 3700 Automated DNA Analyzer for both Sequencing and Genotyping applications and also owns a Model 377 which is sometimes used for backup capacity. The 3700 is designed for high throughput runs and is capable of processing up to four 96-well plates a day as well as handling 384-well plate formats. The ABI 3700 Sequence Analyzer is a fully automated system that allows for the unattended analysis of multiple 96-lane runs. Samples are electrophoresed through a system of capillaries using a polymer matrix.

SNP's and Genotyping runs are processed per plate for custom projects. Mutiplexing techniques can be utilized to maximize data output with minimum sample usage. An internal size standard is run with every sample for quality control.

Contact the Core Manager to discuss SNP or Genotyping projects.
